Part of my work in the world is to help people empower themselves through making healthier choices on all levels, and hopefully prevent receiving a diagnosis of serious disease in the body. However, most people will not discover or effectively activate the necessary level of healthier choices until they are already faced with a health challenge. In addition, we now live in a world which has become toxic in so many ways, that we need to pay extra close attention in order to stay ahead of the toxic load on our minds and bodies.
Now that cancers have become commonplace, it’s a good idea to give some deep thought to what your strategy might look like, if you yourself were to be faced with such a diagnosis. First, I think it’s helpful to have some understanding of what causes cancerous cells (which we all have) to begin to multiply destructively, outpacing the body’s ability to keep their growth in check. A body with a healthy, alkaline and well-oxygenated inner terrain, and an intact immune system, will work continuously to prevent cancer cells from getting out of control and causing distressing and sometimes debilitating or even life-threatening symptoms.
Many forms of stress and toxic forces can impair our inner terrain and/or our immune response, sometimes with disastrous consequences if the impairment is severe or long-lasting. The very good news is that all of these stresses can be mitigated with consistently healthy lifestyle choices. And, the reality is that it’s a challenging balancing act to live and engage in the “real world,” of today, and still effectively protect yourself. We are all impelled to make compromises….and it’s very important to bring conscious, informed discernment to which compromises you will allow. After all, it’s your body, and it’s you who will have to endure the ill consequences of neglect. What trades are you willing to make, to support and maintain your health? What costs are you willing to incur, for the less healthy choices you make?
At the end of the day, if despite our best efforts we still receive a serious cancer diagnosis, we have another chance to decide what to do about it. I’ve reached the conclusion that when people are lacking in sufficient knowledge and confidence in non-toxic strategies for a cure, most people will surrender to the standard medical protocols that have been developed to treat the symptoms of cancer. Even with somewhat integrative approaches, the primary medical treatments for cancer (chemo, radiation, and surgery), usually occupy the center stage.
While these medical treatments can and do sometimes save lives, it always comes at a great cost of other bodily harms, and often the harsh toxicity of these treatments ultimately overwhelms an ailing body. It can feel daunting to research safer alternative options on your own, and I am grateful that my dear friend and colleague Don Bennett, has taken the time to compile a set of resources that I can point you to, as a great starting place. Once you understand what cancer really is, what type of inner body terrain it flourishes in (or withers in), and all that the body does both offensively and defensively to try and keep it at bay, it becomes more possible to fight the fear narratives with real knowledge and a common-sense plan. It helps to arm yourself with a variety of powerful and non-toxic, or less toxic, alternatives to the drugs and surgery relied upon by the medical establishment. Ideally, we learn to live in such a way - before a diagnosis - that we are much less likely to ever receive one. Still, none of us are bulletproof, so it’s like a wise insurance policy to learn about your options now, and consider what you would be comfortable doing. If you wait to think about it until you are feeling threatened by a diagnosis, it becomes more challenging to stay rational and objective, and fear has a sneaky way of eroding confidence.
My friend and colleague Janette Murray-Wakelin, a distance-runner in Australia, experienced a complete cure of “highly aggressive stage 4 carcinoma breast cancer” with a “6-months to live” prognosis given, using only natural or non-toxic methods, along with real diet and lifestyle changes. It took a lot of courage, persistence and determination, and she remains cancer-free with a very active lifestyle 23 years later. An especially rewarding and empowering dimension of Janette’s healing journey was an emotional and spiritual deep-dive. Her book (shown in the images below), is a powerful and inspirational read, and is featured in Don’s list of resources: https://health101.org/art_cancer_treatments
